If you are one who is environmental friendly and cost conscious, using cloth nappies would be your natural choice. Even with disposable diapers readily available, there are many mothers opting to use cloth diapers. Three cheers to you!
But before you can use cloth nappies, the first thing to do is learn how to fold one. It isn’t difficult, just seven little steps that all it takes.
So, how is a cloth nappy folded? Here's how...
In the instruction below, you will take the blue corner as your reference point, always note the position of the blue corner to help you in the orientation of your cloth nappy.
Open up the cloth nappy fully.
Fold the cloth nappy downwards in half.
Fold the cloth nappy over to the left in half.
Take the corner of the nappy (indicated by the red dot) and bring it to the right to form a triangle. Note that the blue corner remains on the left side.
Flip the whole nappy over (turn it upside down). The triangle is now facing downwards.
Fold the left side of the nappy about 1/3 way of the nappy.
Fold the side of the nappy again. This forms the absorbent part of the nappy.
That's it, you're done! You have just learnt how to fold cloth nappies.
To offer some protection to your cloth nappies as well as easing your nappy washing, you might consider using a nappy liner on the absorbent part.
